In Istanbul, the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women protest was banned.
Istanbul Governorship announced that the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women protest, planned to be held in Taksim, was banned.
In the statement, "Considering that there may be verbal and physical provocative incidents between groups and individuals who will carry out an activity related to the subject and other groups and individuals, and that individuals who support terrorism may take part in these groups and abuse them for their own purposes, the public order is maintained and the prevention of crimes is committed." Since it is considered that the protection of the rights and freedoms of others may be in danger, the activities to be held within the borders of Beyoğlu district will be held from 00.01 on 25 November 2024 to 00.01 on 26 November 2024. It is prohibited until 23.59.”
Women had called to Taksim-Tünel on November 25 at 19.30.
