Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya answered the criticism and questions of the deputies during the budget discussions of his ministry at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Planning and Budget Commission. Yerlikaya blamed the women who were murdered in the femicides.
Yerlikaya said in his speech in which he blamed women:
“KADES, an excellent practice started on March 18, 2018, during the reign of Süleyman Bakan. The man closest to the incident quits his job and goes there. There is such an instruction. KADES receives an award at the 15th General Assembly of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly in Paris. UN Office on Drugs and Crime Average rate of femicide per 100 thousand female population in 2021: 1.1; It became 1.2 in 2022. Unfortunately, there is an upward trend in the world, the UN says this. We say zero tolerance regarding violence against women. There are 284 femicides in 2022, 309 in 2023, and 276 in the first 10 months of 2024.
“32 LADIES, WITHOUT COMPLYING WITH OUR WARNING…”
“You have no capacity questions regarding the electronic clamp. We can quickly increase the capacity from 1,500 to 5,000, we have no problem with this. We make the woman for whom we receive a protection order sign a document. After receiving a protection order, the police read the 11 articles in the document. He says, 'We have protected you, but comply with this.' It says, for example, 'If the suspect approaches you, go to the nearest protected place and ask for direct help from the law enforcement. 'Do not meet the suspect face to face.' Because it is fixed with experience. We read all of this to them. Once a week, we ask the headman, 'Is there anyone coming here?' Intelligence is now obsessed with him. "I'm telling you for the first time, even though there was a protection order, last year 32 ladies opened the door to a man and shot him inside, without heeding our warning."
